School & Group Programs

Choose your own adventure when it comes to visiting Huble Homestead! We are pleased to offer teachers and group leaders eight different activities to choose from to keep busy outside this spring and summer! Admission is included with the programming and can be booked right from our website!

Choose from one of eight activity options listed below, or mix and match them to customize your visit!

Option #1: Site Tour

Take the Historic Huble Homestead tour to learn more about the Huble family and settler life in Prince George or learn more about local Lheidli T'enneh history and culture by taking the Lheidli T'enneh Fish Camp tour.
Duration: Approximately 60 t0 90 minutes, depending on the size of the group.
Cost: $2.00 per participant.

Option #2: Treasure Hunt

Have your group participate in our daily treasure hunt activity. Explore the historic site in pairs or a small group, looking for clues to complete their treasure hunt worksheet. Each participant receives a prize at the end of the activity.
Duration: Approximately 30 minutes if in groups, shorter with participants in pairs.
Cost: $2.00 per participant.

Option #3: Old Fashioned Games

Spend 30 minutes playing the games children played one hundred years ago. A costumed interpreter will lead your group in old-fashioned games such as the wheel barrow race, sack races, and others.
Duration: 30 minutes.
Cost: $2.50 per participant.

Option #4: Portage Game

Divide into teams to complete an historical scavenger hunt. A fun way for high energy groups to explore the historic site, with a prize for everyone at the end.
Duration: Adjustable between 30-60 minutes.
Cost: $3.00 per participant.

Option #5: Homestead Game

Divide into teams to portage across the homestead, show off your wits in a buying exercise at the General Store, and finish up by making your way past various obstacles to reach home! This fun activity lets classrooms step into the shoes of a homesteader.
Duration: Adjustable between 30-60 minutes.
Cost: $3.00 per participant.

Option #6: Sherlock Challenge

Have your group work out puzzles and clues to solve a mystery on the homestead. Recommended for Grades 3 and up only, with adult assistance. Each participant will receive a prize at the end of the activity.
Duration: 60-90 minutes.
Cost: $3.00 per participant.

Option #7: Butter Making

Our most popular program activity for 30 years, this delicious activity includes a taste at the end! All materials required for making butter will be supplied by Huble Homestead. A costumed interpreter will instruct your group in the butter making process, though your supervisors will be required to assist during the activity and passing out samples for tasting.
Duration: Approximately 30 minutes.
Cost: $3.00 per participant.

Option #8: Ice Cream Making

Hand-cranked ice cream is a quintessential summer treat. All materials for making ice cream will be supplied by Huble Homestead. A costumed interpreter will instruct your group on the process, though your supervisors will be required to assist with holding the churn while children take turns cranking the ice cream, and assist in passing out samples for tasting.
Duration: Approximately 30-45 minutes.
Cost: $4.00 per participant (minimum of 6 children).

Things to note:

No set program duration. Your visit this year can be as short or as long as you like. While bookings and a time of arrival are still required, you can arrange your visit as you wish, and intersperse Huble-led activities with your own games, exploration, and breaks.

Self-guided tour. If you'd prefer that your group visit the buildings and structures at their own pace, you are able to do so! Informational signage is posted throughout our exhibits, or self-guided tour brochures may be requested. There is no fee for this option.

Self-guided games guide. You can request our self-guided games guide if you would prefer to have a member of your party run games instead of our staff. There is no fee for this option.

Occupancy limits in the General Store. Groups are always welcome to visit the General Store during their visit. For school and summer care groups, access to the Store is staggered, with groups limited to five children. If you prefer, we also offer customized goody bags that you can take home at the end of your trip.
